15th overall in the Goodwin Trophy and 8th in the Anita Taylor Saloons during debut year
Mel Higgins has completed her first full season of racing in the British Women Racing Drivers Club Championships (provisional results), achieving 15th in the Goodwin Trophy and 8th in the Anita Taylor Saloons. It marks a significant milestone in her motorsport journey, having qualified the previous year and now establishing herself as a competitive driver.
Ten races counted towards Mel’s results, with the flexibility to enter any organised race meeting in the UK. She chose to compete mainly in MSVR All-Comers races, including two visits to Snetterton 300 and a round at Brands Hatch, as well as invitation entries in the Classic Touring Car Racing Club’s Pre-03 Touring Cars and Castle Combe Racing Club’s Hot Hatch Championship.
Her standout moment came at Snetterton 300, where she showed marked improvement across the day in skill, confidence, and lap times, earning Driver of the Day. This was also her first time on the podium for this, an experience she described as unforgettable.
Mel raced her Citroën Saxo 8v, affectionately named Addie, throughout the season. Alongside her racing, she works as an on-road performance and advanced driving consultant, with a career background in marketing spanning across industries including automotive, motorsport, business services, and medical devices.
Mel said:
“This first full season has been about developing my drive, learning new skills, and honing them wherever I can. To come away with Driver of the Day at Snetterton and stand on the podium for the first time was incredible. I didn’t know what to do with myself, but it gave me external acknowledgement and internal confidence that I’m moving in the right direction. My focus now is on building from this foundation and being competitive in my chosen championship in 2026.”

The team extend their gratitude to sponsors and supporters, whose support has enabled Mel’s entry into motorsport and participation in the British Women Racing Drivers Club.
